In New England, Autumn is in full swing. With a chill in the air and beautiful foliage it’s time to whip out the must-haves to stay cozy and warm. While there’s the traditional oversized sweaters and scarves, I’ve compiled a list of my top 5 fall essentials. Also, sorry to have recently been MIA – with a heavier workload, getting sick, helping my sister move and finishing a big surprise up I’ve had little time to blog!
My newly favorite first essential is booties! I’ve always been a fan of riding boots, but this year I fell in love with shorter ankle boots that pull together any outfit. They keep your feet nice and toasty and look adorable with leg warmers. There is such a wide variety out there to choose from that fits your own personal style – from rustic chic to professional. I bought mine from JcPenney and they are currently on sale right now! (Be right back while I go pick up the other color.)
The second must-have for fall is a blanket! I’m the type of person to always be cold, even if I’m bundled up, so having a blanket wrapped around me is a must. I spend every single night cuddled up in my fleece blankets – my favorite is The Big One from Kohl’s. My philosophy is that you can never have enough cozy blankets, I even have one at the office to snuggle up with while I’m working!
With autumn bringing on the colder weather I believe it’s important to have a drink to warm you up. Essential number three is tea for me – however coffee, apple cider or hot chocolate works too! I especially love tea because the flavors are very soothing and certain blends are extremely beneficial for your body. My current favorite is Yogi’s Healthy Fasting which you can pick up from Whole Foods.
Along with a warm drink should be a comforting snack which is essential number four. When I think comforting fall foods I think cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin, vanilla, etc. I recently discovered Purely Elizabeth’s Granola which is clean, vegan, gluten free and packed with organic super foods like chia seeds and quinoa. The original blend has cinnamon and goes great with greek yogurt for a snack or by itself! You can pick this up at Whole Foods also and fall in love just like I did.
My last essential is a good book – there is nothing better than cozying up on a chilly fall day in your fleece blanket, drinking your tea and being fully immersed in a story. My favorite type of book to read this time of year is a murder mystery – especially the Murder She Wrote series. I’m currently reading Fatal Feast in that series which centers around Thanksgiving – totally appropriate. If you’d like to see what else I’ve recently read or what reviews I’ve given, check out my Goodreads profile!
Autumn is my favorite season and I love to embrace it with these 5 essentials. What makes this season especially comforting for you? Be sure to leave a comment – I’d love to know what your must-haves for fall are too!
